Lunch Intervals + Sunshine Award

This afternoon it was time for another round of Intervals for Lunch. I decided to switch things up for a shorter, harder overall effort.

On the menu: 4 x 1000m

(1) 4:35 - I am never eating chocolate again.
500m recovery interval @ 3:14
(2) 4:34 - This hurts. How did I ever run a 5K at this pace? FASTER than this pace??
500m recovery interval @ 3:15
(3) 4:35 - Wheeze! Wheeze! Wheeze! (wow, nice and consistent though!)
500m recovery interval @ 3:08 (+ emergency gas station pitstop)
(4) 4:24 - Almost done, PUSH PUSH PUSH (die die die).

Ideally, I would have liked to complete 5 repeats, but I just didn't have time and had to get back to the office. I feel good about this workout. It was a hard effort, but I know I'm capable of faster on a good day... perhaps on a day that does not follow a 3-day junk food binge...

***

Both TMB @ Racing With Babes and Anne @ Asthma and the Gift of Running were kind enough to bestow upon me the Sunshine Award! What a pleasant and welcome gift on this dreary February day. Thanks, ladies!

It's my pleasure to pass this award on to the following bloggers, selected for leaving the first comment on each of my last 12 posts. (I know Lacey is laughing because I am obsessed with being "FIRST!" comment on her posts, lol!)

I hope it brings a ray of sunshine to your day!

Well done!

I don't know if you saw my comment in your last post (about needing to try the ice wine). My husband and I ended up opening it in honor of Canada and the Olympics...it wasn't bad - quite sweet!

That flower is wonderful to look at since Boston is a big gray whiteout mess today!

And jeez louise how do you manage to tackle those times on lunch??

9th! Congrats on repeating the repeats despite what I consider the perfect "diet": A 3-day junk food binge. OK, so I lied about the diet, but hey, sometimes we run so we can do that, right?! Some day I will comment first, just to mess with your head!!

I tell myself... LESS WINE would make the run less painful..... then repeat... ;(

WAY TO KNOCK IT OUT!

Yay on the sunshine award! Man, those are some tough intervals. Speed training is always so hard, but worth it in the end.

Your lunch breaks rock! I seriously seriously need to pack up my work out clothes and do some speed work on lunch. I am lucky enough to have a highschool track across the street from work. You inspire me - no more excuses!

You.are.a.machine!! If I did that at lunch, I would then need to lay down all afternoon...forget that, I could never do that any time of day :)

Wow..that is awesome. I wish I had easy access to a shower to do lunch workouts..there is no way I could run and not have some semblance of a shower after. My cubicle mate would not understand.
