First Snow + Running Errands

Over night and early this morning we had our first real snowfall of the season. The roads were a disaster this morning and my commute took me four times longer than usual. Something like that could really mess with my mood if I didn't have a trip to Cuba coming up in 11 days.

The temperature rose quite a bit throughout the day and it was a wet, slushy mess by the time I headed out to run this evening. I almost bailed and hit the treadmill at the gym, but decided to brave the sloppy sidewalks and run an errand in the process. I loaded my Nathan Intensity for Women with books to return and hubby joined me on a jaunt to the library. Leaving the library, my pack was even heavier as I stuffed it full of a few hardcover books that I had on hold. We also made a quick stop at the Running Room to stock up on nutrition. Needless to say, I was carrying several extra pounds on my back on the way home. Do I earn extra HBBC points for that? ;) I also had freezing cold and soaking wet feet. Yuck.

HBBC Update

Wednesday:
run 5.8 mi = 5.8 pts
F/V = 1 pt

You are braver than I! I was all over the treadmill tonight.

I think you should be able to add some weight-training HBBC points for that, especially since you were going on sloppy sidewalks :)

I am so happy I am still recovering from CIM so no outdoor run, good job getting out there in that yuckiness!

Haha yeah I think that counts...along with the annoying shoveling I had to do today. Ugh..snow is pretty but such a pain!

Didn't that hurt your back?! Ha uhh yah that counts for extra points!

what kind of running nutrition (ahem, candy? ;)) did ya pick up??

We got nailed with the snow too. I think HBBC points should be earned for staying calm through bad traffic (one of my most hated things).

I have yet to run to the Library - I have run to the grocery store and the post office. Maybe next time I can get to the Lib!

It was horrible driving this morning and yesterday! the office is so quiet because it is taking everyone forever to get in! Its those silly lakes (erie and ontario!) they are causing all kinds of snow and stuff for us!

You are more courageous than me! I moved my training indoor because of the storm...

you are so cute. I love that you ran with the books in your pack. I wouldn't have. Not sure I would have braved the roads either. I am so jealous your hubs runs with you.

LOVE LOVe it.. I have been so proud of myself when I have RUN errands... Starbucks to buy a CD and Fred Meyer for a lotto ticket. I have never thought about loading up a backpack.. Maybe I will grocery shop Marlene style.

Sorry about your commute buddy.. I am totally wondering when the weather will come here.

I am going to MISS you when you are in Cuba.. Insert sad face and droopy eyes..

I hear you on this weather! We're working on our second storm of the month. Can't even call it the season yet because its not winter! At least you can escape to the tropical weather soon!

If you don't earn extra points, I think you should!

I'm so bummed that the snow has finally arrived. I don't have many sidewalks where I am, and count on using my running stroller. Sigh. No can do in the snow. It's just not safe. It's going to be a long winter!

so you ran in icy, slushy, snow with heavy books?!? yeah that's a recipe for disaster in my world :)

You are a much better person (runner) than me.

As a native Californian, I still haven't learned how to deal with snow. I'm living in it now and I HATE IT. Trying to be more positive though.;) I think I'm gonna stick to treadmill running since I'm trying to overcome sickness, but maybe I'll be brave and hit the streets like you.
