First, I realize that I neglected to follow up on the slight knee issue I had a little over a week ago. Fortunately it didn't really bother me last week, but I went to physio on Friday to have it checked out and get a little massage. The only issue they found was a tight quad, which could certainly have caused the twinges in my knee. My PT focused on that, while also giving my legs an overall assessment and rub-down. Everything felt good! I'm going back tomorrow just go keep things nice and loose.
On Saturday, I met up with some of my group for our final "long" run of 10 miles. We headed slightly north to The Marsh where we could run along quiet country roads with the canal on one side and farm fields on the other. We ran a simple out and back, taking it easy on the way 'out' and picking it up on the way 'back', averaging slightly faster than goal marathon pace overall.
The road was extremely sloped, which made my knee a little unhappy later in the day. I took good care of it for the remainder of the day as well as Sunday (skipped the short tun I had planned) and it's feeling good. Hubs thinks I'm over-reacting (taper pains?) and I hope he's right... but I'll be babying it this week nonetheless.
It's MARATHON WEEK!
I'll be focusing on recovery, rest, plenty of sleep, proper nutrition, gallons of water, compulsive weather-checking and race day prep.
Goal(s) to come and a training recap if I can pull it together.

Hope it's a great week for you! Take care of that knee.
The company I used to work for has a division in Mississauga. I love saying it: Mississauga. :)
Very excited for your race. I am going to be there to cheer on my run group.

So, when I saw your map of the run, I had to giggle. Had I not been sick, and not been checking out that other tri group, I would have ridden right past you!!! What are the chances! That's where I ride every Tuesday, and Saturdays! RANDOM!! Enjoy the extra rest!
Good luck with the Marathon this week! Enjoy the taper!

Perfect!
Don't forget to drink some Gatorade the day before the race. Did you get your salt tabs yet?
This brings up a great point - runners should always pay attention to slopes in the road when training and racing. They definitely can make a difference!
Take it easy this week!
Woo hoo! Your plan for the week sounds great!
Yikes! The dreaded knee thingy..... you are certainly doing the right things to take care of yourself, unlike me I would just open another BEvERage..... lol

Woo Hoo! It's race week. You are going to do amazing. And the weather is going a million times better than today!
Hey you, hope you are enjoying your taper. Your training has been going great, you've been doing quality work through the winter and spring (a whole lot more than I've been sneaking in) and I know you'll have a great race. Be relaxed and enjoy it. On a good day, Mississauga is a course that surprises and I know plenty of people who have PRed on it. Hope I'll see ya this weekend!
Its race week for you too! Your running has been so strong, so I hope you have a terrific experience at the marathon this weekend. This is your 26.2 mile celebratory party!!! Hope those twinges are just a part of taper madness...
