Three Out of Five

Tonight my legs were not feeling the 5 x 1000 that I had planned. As I set out for a 3K warm-up with hubs, I just felt tired. Even after a rest day yesterday, I must still be feeling the effects of Sunday's run. In hindsight, I should have just slowed things down a little in order to complete all 5. Instead, I pushed as hard as I could for 3.

I'm pleased with the effort for 3 x 1000, but next week I really need to nail 5!

4:35 - Ugh, this shouldn't feel so hard.
4:30 - And I thought I could run 5 at this pace tonight?
4:24 - Just push through this and you can quit.

I'm definitely a little disappointed that I wasn't able to work through it, but sometimes it's just not going to happen. I stll got a decent workout in and I'll be ready for 5 x 1000 redemption next week!

The 3 reps you did were great. Don't be too hard on yourself - sometimes the mind is willing but the body just doesn't cooperate.

It happens don't be too hard on yourself. Analise what happened and correct it next time.

You probably made the smart move--as runners, we seldom do that, so kudos!

I felt slow today too! Great job pushing through and completing three! I am sure next week you will be back to 5! The distance of 1000m is tough!!

Those are terrific times! If I have to choose between hitting my times or hitting my repeats (because of feeling flat), I always prefer hitting times. That's still a fine workout, and you'll get 'em next week. :-)

You are still a speedy girl! We all have times when we just don't have what it takes to finish the planned number. You'll hit them next week. I'm sure of it!

At least you did three....it is over half and better than none. Sometimes, less is more.

Girl, that's been the story of all my speedwork recently.

You've been kicking @$$ more than you haven't though, so it's all good!

Girl, give yourself a HUGE pat on the back for those intervals!!! You did was so many people in the world--not only won't do, but can't do! Awesome job!!
Better to kick butt on 3 rather than to risk injury at 5!

Alright SUPER-WOMAN needs to rest more than just one day sometimes. You are a machine!! Listen to your body and legs so that you can hit your upcoming race goal.

Still a great workout, you'll rock 'em next time! Smart move listening to your body though.

You had a solid hilly run this weekend, so no wonder your legs are tired! I think either choice was a good one - push for three or dial back for five. You listened to your legs though, and some days they just don't have it. You still pushed through though, so great job!

No point in injuring yourself so close to the next race. Still wicked times....

I took my Speed workout down a notch yesterday too! 6 x 800s just wasn't in the cards and I knew my legs would be PISSED if I tried it anyway ;) You'll get those 5 next week!

don't be hard on yourself...your body was telling you something. doesn't mean you don't have this in you because you know you do. rest up and go get 'em next time!

They can't all be great runs! I love that word: redemption. If that's not motivating, I don't know what is!

You are doing amazing!

I've had some less than great workouts in the last 3 weeks but you go back out there the next time and push a little harder. It all works out.

Your workouts are TOUGH!!

We all have those days. Way to be smart and but it back to 3 awesome intervals!

Those are awesome intervals...but, knowing when to stop is surely the wisest road to avoiding injury!

I have always thought 1000's were the most difficult repeat. Of course I just recently realized that for at least 3 years I have been running them as 1200, not 1000. Whoops.

I sometimes struggle with my runs after a big running weekend. Sounds like you are just easing back into and you should be back in your groove soon! Good luck!
