Monday Mush

We had a relatively quiet weekend... most likely the last time that is going to happen until the new year! Anyone else notice their calendar filling up at an alarming rate? Don't get me wrong - I'm excited about the upcoming festive season (although based on our experience at the mall on Saturday, it is apparently not so much "upcoming" as HERE! NOW! THERE IS NO ESCAPE!), but the challenges that come along with it make me a little nervous. Will I be able to keep up with workout mania with the dinners and parties and all the prep that goes along with it? Will I be able to moderate my indulgences with all the holiday temptations and avoid a bunch of unnecessary weight gain before training starts in January? I hope so! Fortunately I have things like the Amanda's Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge and my very own Mission: Racing Weight to keep me in line.

On the workout front, I ran a double on Friday (lunch run then evening run with hubs), Bootcamp Saturday morning (feeling it today!) followed by a nice and easy afternoon run. I was able to meet up with the group for my first official post-marathon long run yesterday and inadvertently pushed the pace for 21K in 1:52. It felt great to test out some speed over a longer distance, although it wasn't quite the "easy Sunday run" that I had bargained for.

One last thing - RWB is hosting a giveaway for some fantastic reflective gear: Run Naked. For five bonus entries we are given the option to submit a photo of our current (creative) reflective gear.

I think I'm going to need a longer extension cord...

Have a great Monday!

I think the generator to run your reflective gear might be heavy.

You'll do great over the holidays.

I'm actually looking forward to late November and December. Things seem so much calmer with fall sports done, my races over, and school stuff winding down for the holidays. I hear you on battling the weight gain though. Halloween added the pounds that I normally gain at Christmas, so I'm going into the holiday heavy. Not good.

Between your group runs, lunch runs, evening runs, boot camps and spinning, I'm sure you will not have any problem reaching your mission!

Nice lights. My mother-in-law is a huge home shopping network type and I am 99.9% sure she could hook you up with some battery operated lights - then you can rock the lights for all of your runs. :)
