A few weeks ago, I said I was finished racing for 2008, but Marci peaked my interest in the Hamilton Harriers 88th Annual 10 Mile Boxing Day Run.
It didn't take much to convince hubby that it was a good idea, so we registered today. It will be my first 10-miler and looks like a great event. And hey, it's 10 more miles toward 1000 for the year.
It will also be a good way to burn off some of the excess calories from Christmas dinner the day before - hopefully I will have recovered from the turkey coma by 11:00 AM the next day.
Looking forward to seeing you there, Marci!

How great! Good luck, have fun and stay warm!!
Great idea. I always like to think about my runs during the holidays as my way of "earning" the massive amount of food that I consume. That's the best motivator for me to hit the roads on a cold, snowy day.
You'll hit your 1,000 with plenty of room to spare!
ohhh fun! i really want to find a 10 mile race around here one of these days!
That is great! Good luck!
Sounds fun. I think that 10 miles is one of the best race distances.
Good idea! I would love to do it as good prep for Disney but my very pregnant sister is hosting family (18 adults and 7 kids) for dinner. I think she would have a cow if I bailed out. :)
You are crazy!!! Love it. A 10 miler sounds like a great race. Hope it isn't too cold.
Thats really great! I am sure you will enjoy the 10 miler!
That sounds great! I did a 10 mile run back in June and LOVED it!!! 10 miles is a great distance....well it was a great distance, right now my a$$ is struggling to do a 5K!!
Running around the holidays is such a great idea. Good luck!
That sounds great. I'm sure you guys will have a great time. Wish I could join.
LMAO! There's always room for another race, eh?
Congrats on registering and good luck!
Woo Hoo! Great. Your bib gets a free drink afterwards if you are interested! Should be fun!
Great plan! Have fun with that. :-)
Love to join you but will be in South Florida buying out Whole Foods....enjoy!
That's great that you found another race for December! I have excess calories to burn for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Saturday night, Sunday night, Tuesday lunch, Wednesday snack...you get the idea. ;)
Are you going to wear boxing gloves? (...... bad joke i know....) 1000 miles here you come!
my husband is running this as well with our club. it is an excellent race and drinks at the local irish pub after. What more could you want?
Sweet! Enjoy it :) I've grown to love that distance.
Fun! Good luck!
Congratulations :) I've struggled with weight issues all my life and ultimately what works for me is a lifestyle change too.
I'm really glad you found something that works for you and are able to stick to it...that is really a huge, huge accomplishment.
