"What the heck happened to you?"

It's Tuesday. It's lunchtime. It's cool, windy and raining. Work is busy. There's only one thing to do: INTERVALS!

With a 5K coming up next weekend, Coach Hubs suggested some shorter repeats at 5K pace. I decided to set out for 10 x 500 metres at somewhere between my current 5K PR pace and goal 5K PR pace.

Target: 500m @ 2:12 - 2:15

Results:

2:13
2:14
2:15
2:12
2:11
2:13
2:13
2:13
2:15
2:10

It's tough running short intervals outside of a treadmill/track. I had to constantly check my Garmin and slightly over-ran the 500m on almost every single one. BUT the workout is a definite success!

Just as I was settling back down at my desk after doing my best to freshen up, one of my co-workers came around the corner, took one look at me and said, "What the heck happened to you?"

INTERVALS, that's what!

Maybe I should have used more powder...

Ha!! So funny!! I'm sure my co-worker really appreciate that I can shut my office door so they can't smell me after a run....
It will all be worth it when you have that PR in the bag!

Excellent job!!

That's how I usually run intervals since I don't have a track nearby me. But, luckily, I work from home so no one usually sees me afterwards :-)

I love that you workout during lunch break. I don't really have that option because of my ankles but you do inspire me to walk instead of drive :D

Great job on the 500m. I dont know what I am going to do when I run outside again for intervals. Its going to be tough and I dont have a garmin!

Nice job...this would so be the kind of comments directed at me if I had done this at work. I look like death after my intervals/tempos.

That's true commitment - when you run on your lunch hour - and a hard workout such as intervals to boot!!

Way to go! ;-)

I am a complete sweaty mess after running, so there is only the option of a shower if I'm not going to look like someone ran over me :)
