Wasted Wednesday

This week has been freeeeeeezing cold in these parts with sub-zero (Fahrenheit) temperatures and biting winds. I braved the elements on Tuesday evening and headed out for a ~45 minute steady run. The cold and wind stung and my feet and ankles whined as I plowed through snow drifts.

8.46K = 5.25mi
47:27
5:36/KM = 9:01/mi

Yesterday I wasn't feeling so tough. I decided to pack a bag to hit the gym right after work for a wimpy treadmill run. I was short on time because we were meeting MIL for dinner and had a few stops to make for hubby's trip (he leaves tomorrow), but planned to squeeze in a quick (warm) 3-miler. I got to the gym, swiped my card, headed to the change room... only to discover that I had packed two tops and no pants. I'm not sure why I have so much trouble packing a bag, but I have done this before. I have been known to forget socks and a sports bra (believe it or not, I made it work) and this is not the first time I have forgotten pants. By the time I got home, I didn't have time to go out and run (and wasn't the least bit mentally prepared for temperatures and winds even worse than Tuesday), so it was a bit of a wasted day.

Tonight is clinic and we have an 8-10K out-and-back (negative split) on the schedule. I'm going to have hubby drop me off so I can run home to make up some of the missed mileage. I'm probably going to have to bundle up in every piece of clothing I own to protect myself from the frigid temperatures. Brrrrrr!

I'm taking tomorrow off work to drive hubby to the airport in the morning (as he flies off to a tropical climate and leaves me here to freeze my a$$ off) and plan to run another 10K or so in the afternoon (might as well take advantage of being home during daylight).

Stay warm!

at least you tried to run at the gym. Way to make up for it by running home!
Maybe you'll have to use that horrible cold weather as an excuse to buy more running gear, since you'll have to wear everything at once!

I have the same problems packing a bag. I don't know how many times I've run in my dress socks and using a rubber band for a pony tail holder. Stay warm on those runs - good for you for getting out there!

Nuts! I guess deep-down your body was saying it needed a rest day!

Hope your husband's trip goes well.

I went to the indoor track Tuesday, and ran on the TM yesterday. Tonight its track again. I just can't handle running outside in this. You are hard-core LADY!

You get points for trying in my book. I hate when I do that. I have forgotten my shoes before. It makes me so made that I have made the time to do the exercise only to forget a core piece of clothing.

I am also jealous of your mister's travels. I am freezing too, at least you are not alone there.

I always forget things for the gym, mostly socks. So true how you lose all mentality when that kind of stuff happens. Good job tryin to get in those missed miles, thats dedication!
