It must be RACE WEEK

the dining room table is quickly becoming Race Central

every precaution being taken against getting sick!

working on the play list

when I'm not busy checking the weather... again

WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?

the peanut butter level has reached critical

the faucet is flowing

the foam roller is seeing plenty of action [in my jammies] since everything suddenly feels broken tight

we started sleeping in separate beds! this may seem odd but we disturb one another constantly in our sleep, and every bit counts this week!

I've done all the work and now I am just concentrating on staying focused and sane. I took the day off tomorrow for a couple of appointments and errands (and hopefully some relaxation!) - I'm hoping this will help break up the break because I could really use a fast forward button right now.

In the meantime, I better go check the weather again...

I am now checking different sources for the weather in Pittsburgh (accuweather and weather network) to see if there are differences. The hubs has stopped talking to me about it.
Getting close!!!! Weeee!!

Yay, race week!!! It's finally here! My house/life/routine is very similar to yours during race week. I think runners are crazy :-)

Good luck! I'll be at the half finish cheering on hubby, then we've gotta split, so likely won't get to see you, but I'll send good vibes your way!

Great post. I think it's funny how you are sleeping in different beds... but you're right... every little bit counts, I am sure!

Loved this post! You are almost there Marlene! And yes sleep is super important. It's funny that you are sleeping in separate beds, but you do what you gotta do!

that water bottle looks familiar ...

nothing is going to get in your way. race day will rock. good luck enduring the week!

hilarious that you sleep in separate beds! i may have to throw that one at the rocketship in the future...

I LOVE the separate beds idea. LOVE IT. We may have to implement that strategy.

And BTW - you MUST get more nut butter and get it now. Don't read this comment anymore and go get some. You should always have 3-4 jars in the pantry at all times so you can switch it up and always have some on hand.

You are going to do awesome this weekend.

Oh yes...those pesky phantom aches and pains...grrr!

Hang in there this week....I know it's tough :)

Maybe you two are constantly waking eachother up because you are trying to sleep on the same side of the bed!

Sunday will be here before you know it!

Indi said...

Good Luck!!! yep..I usually sleep in our second bedroom before races so i can get better quality sleep too!

Nice slippers/slipper socks/whatever they are.

Hmm I was just going to take it easy and try to survive but NOW I think I might have to go for broke. Aka-maybe run a decent first half and then TANK in the second.

Smart idea to sleep in seperate beds! Anything to get the extra rest! I noticed I was tighter in the final week too! Funny how that happens! Hope the foam rolling helps!

race central woo woo!!!
i love it :)

elliot and i are so lucky we have a whole extra bedroom/study with an extra bed, so elliot sleeps in there when our hours are going to be drastically different, it's actually a really great strategy!

You are cracking me up, too funny about the separate rooms...and excuse me, my kitchen table looks like that all the time lately...

ps, may see you in Sydenham...

Ha! Love it! I always joke that I'm the most underprepared racer out there then my bf looks at me like I'm crazy, but in runner world it's true!

Great post! I wish you the best of luck with your race. I just found you from Miss Zippy and saw your comment about the meet ups at Martian Marathon. I was there too! I missed meeting up with a few ladies that I already knew and a couple new ones, Erin, Shelby, and Leah.

I love your little pharmacy! You're doing all the things you need to do--you're going to have the BEST race day!!

Have you checked the weather lately? May have changed in the last hour! ; )

I've never thought of sleeping in different beds race week- but a good idea is a good idea!

This week (the "pre-race week") is the worst!! My patience has no tolerance for the waiting; enjoy the day off tomorrow and distract yourself as much as possible! :)

One benefit of my hubbs being away through the week is a solo bed. I love the space...but LBM keeps getting me up at night anyway. I can't win.

I know you are nervous/excited but you know that you are doing to have a great time. You are a pro at racing. Your training is spectacular. It's just a mental game to the start line now.

RACE WEEK!!! i'm so excited for you!! and you're right, you did all the work and you are ready. hope this week goes fast for you!! rest up!

Hilarious! Beer Geek gets sent to the guest room when I have a race. I bet your husband understands the reasons better than mine does.

Char said...

Ha!I'm not the only weather obsessed person when it comes to racing. My husband thinks I'm a nut. Good to know I'm normal.

Good luck! I think I might try the separate bed thing the next time I race. Sleep deprivation is the pits!

Jess said...

You're controlling everything you can control. Now, try to relax and get that sleep!

You are definitely more organized than I am, Marlene!

You are going to ROCK this weekend!
