The long weekend started with a nice cool day on Saturday. It was around 13C/55F all day long! The air was crisp and fresh and I started noticed fallen leaves; it was a nice taste of fall, even though I know we're still in for some more heat. All day long, people were complaining about the crappy weather for our last long weekend of summer - meanwhile, I was living it up!
A run was the perfect way to start my day. I started solo but soon ran into hubs who was finishing up his run at the park (I opted to sleep in and run later!). We ran together for a short while when I spotted some of my running buddies on the opposite side of the (small) lake. I promptly ditched hubs (I know, I know, but he was headed back to the car anyway!) and bolted to catch up with them. I found out that they were in the middle of a long run, so I tagged along for a while and put a good dent in my run.
Coincidentally, we soon ran into another one of our buddies who was out for a run in his neighbourhood. I decided to turn around and join him for a bit before making my way back to the car. It was good fun having different companions along the way; I guess I like to get around. ;) In the end, I logged a decent 15K (9.3mi) on this beautiful morning.

On Sunday I opted to forgo the sleep-in and support my training group on their long run instead. It means so much to me seeing a smiling face (and indulging in cold drinks, fresh fruit and treats) in the middle of a tough run, so I'm happy to reciprocate when I have the opportunity. One of the best things about this group is that almost every week someone volunteers their time to do this for us, and it really can make all the difference when it comes to getting through a run.
I headed to their starting point bright and early to see everyone off and let them know where I would be.
Complete with cowbell, M&M costume, a cooler full of water/gatorade along with an array of oranges, watermelon, chocolate and fruity candies, I made my way to pit stop # 1 (after a quick detour home because I forgot the fruit in the fridge - oops!).
To say they were happy to see me would be an understatement! I loved watching the gang devour everything as though they were the best things they had ever tasted. I helped out with some bottle refills before sending everyone on their way. Once all the pace groups had made their way past, I did a quick drive-by before setting up pit stop # 2. By that point, the refreshments were even more welcome!
After the run, I met up with everyone back at the starting point, handing out high fives and leftovers before some of us headed out to brunch.
All in all, it was a great morning and one I was happy to be a part of.

Looking forward to the report!! Sounds like a great weekend!!
Suspense! I'm glad this year was better weather for the race but hope it didn't rain, at least not too hard. I'm also curious if they had race day pick up this year...
Sounds great so far! Can't wait to hear about the half!
How fun to run into so many running peeps :) That's so sweet of you to go and help out for the long run...it must be so great for them and fun for you :)
Your running group rocks with all the pit stops! Love that! I'm enjoying the weather too ;)

Can't wait to hear the race report!! Going to be a good one for sure!
That is why the local running groups are so awesome, they all support each other. I need to start connecting more with them.
That's it I'm moving to Canada.
That weather is a DREAM!
other than the brutal winds on Sat..it was an awesome weekend to run. We always 2 people out for our run group for water/fruit/gatorade...I love them.
I hope you had a great race :)
I love that you pitted your running group! That is so awesome!
Your morning run sounded so fun. It had to have flown by with all the different running buddies you "found."
That is really cool that you got up and went out there to help out your fellow runners! :) I'm sure it was much appreciated!
what a great running group you have! Great support system, that's amazing.
Ha! I love that you wore an M&M costume!! Can't wait for the race report!
Great weekend! How fun you were able to give back to the group on Sunday. Love that you dressed up!
Hearing about your Sunday group always makes me want to come join you!! I love how supportive you all are of each other, getting out there to help whenever you can and providing food and drinks - so awesome!! :)
Hope the 1/2 went well, can't wait to hear about it!!
What a great weekend! And, I'm so jealous of your fall temps!
To say I'm a bit jealous of your temps this past weekend is an UNDERSTATEMENT! It was HOT here all weekend! Nice job on the run!
And...so very cool you get to help out on the long runs :)
Okay where do I start? You get around???? Daddy always said stay away from 'fast' women..... That is so cool that you were the pits for your training group!
looking forward to the report
Nice that you provided the treats to your group! Our club does similar and I'm in charge of rounding up the volunteers. Not always easy, so we appreciate the likes of you!
I'm so jealous of you and your running group. That run (with multiple partners - you naughty girl) sounds SO enjoyable. That would suit me perfectly. I'm sociable, but in short spurts. Trading off running partners frequently would suit me quite well.
What a nice way to spend a Sunday morning--refreshing running buddies!! Your energy is inspiring!
Your running group seems like so much fun!! It is so nice that you have so many running buddies so close by!
It is wonderful how your running group supports each other!
Sounds good so far! How did the half go?
wooot!!!! love me some long weekends!!
You are quite the social butterfly! Glad you had a fun weekend.
Dear United States,
What's up? Why does Canada get our holidays off but we don't get theirs off? What is up with that? Canada isn't even having a major economic melt-down, obviously due to having more vacations. Let's fix this immediately. I'm good with getting the next month or so off, whatever you think.
Sincerely,
Me
seriously what's up with you getting our labor day off? Not fair. I'm calling in sick on canadien thanksgiving.
Nice recap....
