GSD

With less than 5 weeks to go, I have three big training weeks ahead of me before it's time to start making myself crazy tapering. When I kicked off this training cycle, it seemed like it would last forever and a day Suddenly, I have 14 solid weeks of training under my belt and I can almost sense that finish line on the horizon. We are getting close, but there's still a lot of work to do.

I kept things nice and easy last week as I recovered from a training-run-marathon and battled a cold. Now it's time to GSD [get sh*t done (thanks Kenny)]. I know I need to listen to my body this week and be careful not to push it too much since I can't be certain that I'm 100%. I have some big workouts and big mileage in the coming weeks. I'll kick things off on this "Twosday" with some 5K intervals over lunch and 10K at 103% MRP (i.e. 3% faster than MRP) after work.

Between resting up for and recovering from Martian, I feel like it's been sooo long since I have done speed work (it hasn't really been that long); I hope my legs remember how to move quickly!

I also have 3 races in the next 3 weeks - a 5K [this weekend] and 10K in which I hope to PR, and a half marathon to be completed at goal MRP. I need to stay strong, stay focused and stay healthy. I have physio appointments every week; the diet needs to stay clean and the h2o flowing; I will sleep as much as I can; I probably won't be very social outside of running [good thing all of my friends are runners].

If only I could figure out a way around this pesky day job...

Your schedule is packed, good luck in all the upcoming races! If you find a way to get rid of the pesky desk job and still afford to live, let me know how :)

can you get rid of my desk job that would be greeeat.

Oh dear...GSD...I Love this. Believe it will be a mantra on race day. I want to get a new job as a LottoMax winner. I would rock at that.

Love the term: GSD.

Sounds like you're busy, but focused. You're doing great!

You have to move to a warmer climate to get rid of the desk job. It's too cold to live in a cardboard box in Ontario.

Jobs are so overrated. I would love to quit and just be able to train and do whatever I want all the time. Of course, I wouldn't be able to afford to do any races or buy new running shorts, but whatever. :)

Maybe an extended vacation from work next time - "I'm going to go be a marathoner, I'll be back when I'm done" ;)

This week is the opposite for me - I'm letting the legs GSR (Get some rest). So, I'll live vicariously through you and your speedy feet!

A lot of those sound like my own thoughts. Three hard weeks to go for me as well, stay healthy, stay healthy, stay healthy. So many sick people at work! We are moving into winter as well so it will only get worse. I need to get more sleep too. Take care!

Hope your double went/goes well today! I think having races in your schedule is awesome because it really helps you gauge your fitness as well as "practice" race pace!

The next three weeks are going to fly by, especially with all the races coming up. Have a great week!

I have never done 2 running workouts in one day. That has got to be tough. Keep up the good work girl!

Sounds like you need to give up that pesky day job for your hobby. You need sponsorship - Nike, Adidas, anyone listening?

LOVE the GSD acronym! I should use it at work, haha!

Knowing you, you'll have three excellent peak training weeks ahead of you, and you'll definitely earn that taper!

And yes... I get tired of my day job, too. I wish I could run instead of going to work sometimes. Would make life much better. :)

Funny how that pesky work thing can get in the way so much...

It sounds like you're doing a great job of listening to your body, and it couldn't be more important than it is now! 26.2 is just around the corner!
