Bike Ride, Physio, Tofu!

For the first time since we bought our new bikes, it isn't raining today! Hallelujah! Hubs and I both had the morning off work, so we took advantage and went for a spin. It's absolutely beautiful out right now, but it was still around freezing this morning, so we had to bundle up. (Hmm, it's a lot windier on a bike than on foot!)

It was so much fun! (Even though I was riding the brakes and trying not to freak out when we went downhill.)

We just cycled around the neighbourhood (a little over 5K) and along some local paved trails... where I may have taken a minor spill when my back tire spun out on an icy patch. Don't worry, my bike is okay!

And for those of you dropping the "T-bomb", I do not foresee a triathlon in my (near) future.

After the bike ride, I had to get ready for my physio appointment (the reason for taking the morning off). I haven't been in for a 'check-up' since September and while I haven't had any issues (knock on wood), it never hurts to make sure everything is nice and loose.

My PT was pleased with the way everything felt and as always, I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. Sometimes I think a good physio therapy session is better than a day at the spa.

In other news, hubs and I picked up some tofu for the first time yesterday. I'm definitely going to be stealing some ideas from Lacey. Any and all suggestions welcome!

Tonight: 10K group run! Wearing: shorts!

I agree a good physio session is better than spa. Of course never done a spa day! Have a great run in shorts..i did that yesterday and it so great to be back to it!

Your bike ride sounds exhilerating! Nothing like the wind to wake you up. :) How fun though for you and the hubs! Oh, and I made Tofu-Tacos the other day they were soooooooooooooooo delicious. I just cooked up the tofu like I would hamburger and added mexican seasonings...yum yum yum! I will be curious to hear about what you make with tofu. That was my first time cooking it too.

Sounds like a nice way to start the day!

My suggestion for tofu involves opening the garbage can, inserting the tofu, and walking away :)

Great job on the bike ride! And glad the physio apt went well.

Your bike ride sounds like a lot of fun! I would reccomend the Gliding Calm (glidingcalm.wordpress.com) baked tofu recipe - I think its a great intro-to-tofu recipe and really healthy!

Glad you were able to get out there and enjoy a ride! Sounds like fun!

Sounds like a nice bike ride (minus the spill)!

Marinate, marinate, marinate! Tofu picks up flavours really well and kinda needs to because it doesn't have much taste on its own. Good luck!

Fun bike ride! Just catching up on your older posts...your bike looks really cute...and so do you, on your bike! What brand and model is it? I am considering buying a hybrid bike too...and am looking for suggestions.

Love bike rides! I finally got to get out on my bike for a couple bike rides last week for the first time. I got mine last year right before it got cold, so I was definitely ready!

You'll have to keep us posted on your experience with tofu. I have been considering trying, but am a little scared!

I'm not too bold on a bike but I like cruising. Have fun!

YAY For bike riding!! I wish there was more time in the day because I'd love to be able to bike more often but I have to run everyday.

Isn't it amazing how much more you notice the wind on the bike?! Good idea for the PT too!

Good luck with the shorts! It got cold here.

Physio better than a day at the spa? You are crazier than I thought  Glad you felt/feel great though!!! You should advertise for your physio--makes you feel good AND keeps you running super fast. Awesome!

i like to freeze my tofu then thaw it before i cook/eat it. it changes the texture and i like it better.

i also like it with buffalo wing sauce!

Can you say: Duathlon instead?
Our training group keeps asking me when I am going to start biking/swimming along with them.
My answer thus far is when I get another day in the week. Running takes up enough time as it is currently!

Have fun on the 10k tonight :) I miss riding my bike. I really need to invest in one but we do not have a lot of paths or riding areas around here.

hahaha! the T-Bombbbb!!!! i won't be dropping that or doing it. tho i can totally see you doing one :) just sayin'...

woo wooOOOOO TOFUUUUUUUU. i'm cooking some tonight!!!!!!!!! oh the possibilities :) mark bittman has a bunch of recipes, too, if you want to check him out, he's prolly online all over the place. i don't usually follow a recipe. you can use anything you want (evoo, peanut oil, soy sauce, mustard) to glaze the tofu, then you can bake it or stir fry it :) YUM! can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Is that a Million Dollars Canadian???? Yeah, no matter how much cycling I do there isn't a tri in my future either!

I have not been able to jump on the tofu wagon for some reason. Maybe I need to give it another try!

i like the way you canadians talk. physio. sounds so much prettier than physical therapy. i'm stealing it! ;) also i'm behind, but congrats on that 1/2 PR, awesome, you are kicking some serious ass lately. YAYAY! and FUN bike! bikes are nice.

LOL, good for you to get out on the bike, I always say when you run the temps are 5 - 10 degrees warmer, when you ride they are 5 - 20 degrees lower! LOL

I can see into my crystal ball and a Try-a-Tri is in your future... REALLY....

As for great recipes, go to TriMarni on my sidebar, she always has great ideas for healthy recipes....

really, I do see a tri...

Hee, T-bomb, I've never heard that term before. But I did once think I'd never do a triathlon too ;-)

The t-bomb...hahahaha! Congrats on the new bike. I'm sure you are going to love it. Glad to hear nothing serious happened from the spill!
