The Ferrari and the Jeep

We had a fantastic time camping this weekend with plenty of hiking, swimming, eating, drinking and campfires. The weather was perfect and the park was beautiful.

On both Saturday and Sunday morning, hubs and I set out for a run through the woods. There was a trail from our campground all the way around Cyprus Lake for a nice 5K loop. The trail was well marked and easy to follow along the shore-line, with a constant view of the lake.

Before pic:

The trail was relatively mild in some spots...

And more rugged in others:

We stopped for a few photo ops along the way:

Can you spot me?

After pic:

On this very rare occasion, I found myself leading the way with hubs trailing behind me. I have no fear on the trails and loved every minute of it, bounding through the woods, leaping over and around obstacles, while he stepped carefully along behind me. At one point, as I looked back over my shoulder to see how far behind he was, hubs called out "I'm a Ferrari, not a Jeep!" Apparently, I'm a Jeep!

It was the perfect way to start both days. After
Friday's long run, the variety of terrain and slower pace felt amazing on my legs. Jumping straight in the lake after each run felt pretty great too!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'll be catching up soon.

That trail looks tough in places! Glad you didn't bite it. Looks like a great time.

I love trail running but am klutzy so I would probably be one of those really old rickety jeeps.
Looks like a great weekend!

Go Jeep, Go!!! :) What a great way to spend a weekend. Trail runs are tough, but so much fun with having to navigate all the terrain.

That is great! Lovely pics! Now I know what to call the fast runners I always beat on trail runs.

You look GREAT! where did you get the cool hat??

I would not call you a Jepp perse but totally all terrain.. I would not be able to keep up, I TRIP and fall on my face, I don't lift my legs up at all. does that make me a backhoe?

Those trails look amazing! I am sooo jealous. I can not wait to get back out on trails but for now it's the road (and rarely the treadmill) for me.

You had to love being in the lead!

Oh your trail run looked awesome! Almost like an obstacle course at some parts. What a great way to switch up your runs. And yay for camping! I haven't been yet this season! Fun!

Looks like you had an awesome weekend! I think I might be a bit more of a Ferrari with aspirations of being a Jeep one day

How is it you look just as awesome at the start as as the finish?!? Seriously. This kills me.

And those rocks would have killed me too. ;)

OMG your husband's comment is hilarious - love it! Looks like a beautiful trail!

Those sorts of trails are so mentally demanding. You have to watch every step. I find them much tougher than running on pavement. Beautiful pics. What a lovely area to run in.

You are HAWT!

Way to go! I'm not sure I'll ever do trail running. I like running on my nice even paths and I like hiking on uneven ground. No going fast on uneven ground though. I'd be like your husband!

oh my word, that trail looks crazy!!! your husbands comment is awesome!! I'd rather be a jeep than a ferrari, myself! :)
