Awesome weather + TiaRT

For the next week, it doesn't look like it will be getting warmer than 20C/68F. A-maz-ing. I love this weather! It's still pleasantly warm during the day but cools off nicely at night so there's a chill in the air for morning/evening runs. I love it. If we don't see any more 30C/86F+ days, I will be one happy runner.

Yesterday evening I met a friend (the one who took me skiing that fateful day) for a short run and dinner. I knew I had to squeeze in some extra miles for the day, so I headed out at lunch as well. (I'm getting good at these post-lunch-run sponge baths.)

I had run 15K/9mi on Tuesday and it felt fantastic. I ran the same combined distance yesterday and found myself completely exhausted. It definitely seems to work the body differently to run twice in one day, even if the overall distance is not very high.

Tonight we have a 14K marathon pace run with clinic (+2K warm-up), the one that we missed last week due to tornado warnings.

It's time for Take it and Run Thursday c/o Runners' Lounge and this week Jill Will Run wants to know:

It’s the morning of your weekly long run… what do you eat and why?

I've done oatmeal (too hot for summer) and bagels (too heavy), but my latest go-to is an english muffin with peanut butter and/or nutella. It's delicious, it keeps me going and it sits well in my tummy.

Happy Thursday (almost Friday)!!!

I may have to work on my mid-week long runs nutrition. I wonder if that is why they always stink. Great job on the 9 miler. I wish it would get cooler here soon!

I also eat and English Muffin but add half a banana to the mix!

Have fun tonight!

Yum.... Nutella, that's good stuff! I've also felt that bagels are too heavy pre-run... but I really like one after a long run, for some reason that's when they hit the spot for me!

Thanks for participating!

I nibble on as little as possible and bring a snack for along the way. Usually a piece of toast or something like that. The less in my tummy the better.

My morning long run combo is always the same - 1/2 bagel, 1/2 banana with natural peanut butter and a ton of water. It isn't too much, sits well and lets me be able to eat gels later without feeling like there are rocks in my guts.
Hoorah for coolish weather..I will take it.

Perfect running weather!!

I need to re-evaluate my nutrition before long runs. I used to eat half a whole wheat bagel with PB and that worked well. Lately I've been having some granola. Something about the milk doesn't sit well with me before running...

Yay for cooler weather. I can't even imagine having to run in that kind of heat!
Hmmm... I eat a lot of carbs before a run. One thing I DONT like to eat a lot of is protein/fiber. um yeah. I learned those lessons the hard way. haha

do you eat an original english muffin? those multi-grain ones have like 8 g of added fiber?!?! i thought about doing that one time and then decided just not to... lol. happy almost friday to you too! it was 62 degrees here this morning!!!! after almost 90 yesterday- weird! feels like fall tho

Since I can't live w/o my oatmeal, I eat it cold during the summer. Mix equal parts oats and milk, soak overnight. Then I add some walnuts, raisins and honey. sooo good!

Weather has been crazy here too. Hot and humid at night and dark and foggy (eerie) in the a.m.
I am also a sponge bather at lunch (ponds wipes and some cover up spray..haha!)

i am loving the weather right now too... I ALMOST wore a long sleeve this morning for my run.
That's right- homegirl finnnally went for a morning run.
My post run eats (that I was wishing the entire run were PRE-run eats) was a banana sliced length wise with PB smoothered on top of the slices. A banana sandwich!

A simple toast with peanut butter and honey washed down with chocolate [soy] milk is my perfect pre workout snack.

belated thanks for the link up :)

i don't always eat before my long run... yeah, i know. sometimes i'll have some cereal (dry or with milk) and when i'm lazy/it's not 90 billion degrees out at 7am i'll eat a biscuit & some yogurt maybe. but, sometimes i've just headed out on a run with nada in my belly. i don't think those usually turn out too well... though i do almost always take gu/chomps with me!

well I'm definitey over the "86" degrees but 68? ehhh sounds too cool for me right now! ;) ha glad you're getting some good Temps tho!

I can't do oatmeal pre-run either, too heavy & i always feel a little "not-so-good". English muffins are peeeerfect! yum
