2. Last night I had a great 10K (actually, 10.5 - but who's counting?) with the group. The kilometres ticked by quickly as we chatted away in the peaceful darkness of a November evening. Tonight is SPIN!
3. Our very own Morning Runner is hosting this week's TIaRT and she wants to know:
What is your favorite race? Do you live for the marathons or crave a 5k? Would you rather race in the morning, afternoon, or at night? Do you like big races with tons of people and encouraging crowds or do you prefer the smaller hometown races?
The beautiful thing with racing for me is: I don't have to choose! There is a plethora of options out there year-round in all distances, any time of day, big, small or in between. I can appreciate a small town race with just a couple hundred participants (our own local Rebecca Run and Hartwell Half come to mind) as well as the big boys with several thousand (such as Ottawa or the Toronto Waterfront). I also love to race every distance from the 5K to the marathon. I suppose the simple answer would be: I love variety.
My only problem is narrowing down the options (perhaps you will recall that I ran 9 races in 10 weeks this spring).
How about you?
P.S. (okay, maybe this is Four Things Thursday): Lil Runner is giving away some Clif Quench and you can enter here.

i love the variety of different races too, and now having experienced Nike Women's with 20000+, certainly was a different feel than a small local race, but change is good! Yay for a great run with old friends... have fun at spin tonight!
I totally signed up for the challenge!
ohh sounds fun!
That challenge is so creative! Perfect for the holidays. i might be cheating - in that I'm starting the marathon training :) thats a LOT of points for miles!
I'm with you - LOVE the variety in races. I could never narrow it down to just one type, size, time of day , etc. Gotta keep it interesting!
Hi...I found your blog and love it, thanks for sharing!!!!
I tend to race the half marathon the best but I love the challenge of the marathon. Shorter races really helps mix it up and not burn out.
9 races in 10 week? You rock!!!
Yes, I agree: variety is the spice of life. Great question!
Variety is the most fun, in my opinion, but I favor the middle distance stuff, particularly the half marathon.
I just.love.to.run, no matter the distance, nuff said, but I have to agree with Shirley, variety IS the spice of life..
congrats to YOUR double digits on a weeknight!! my favourite distances are longer ones-15km, half mary, 30 km... it takes me awhile to get into gear, so I need the distance!

Lucky duck - I wish we had a ton of races all year round! It seems like the next few months are very sparse with races around here.
I am so excited about the bootie buster challenge!!!
You always seem to be thinking about a race coming up and you have so many to choose from, lucky you! We usually have a few big favorites that fill up before you know it. Is running just really poplular where you live? Do you live near the city?
I love the Booty Buster challenge. It comes at the perfect time.
I'm the same way about races. There are so many to choose from here that I can race just about any distance each month.
MCM Mama
I am so in for the HBB! I am excited! :)
9 races in 10 weeks :) that's a statistic that speaks to me :) happy thursday!
I agree I like having options. There are things I have liked and disliked about each distance. OK off to check out the Giveaway and I need to add up my points.
Woman, you are kicking some booty with your training! I just love racing and getting the chance to catch up with old friends.
I am in for that challenge as well. I love that in Ontario, there are so many races to choose from (small and large) even in the crappiness of winter. Running/racing gets me through my least favorite season
whose got booty? round booty? new booty? used booty? ahh man gotta post that song it's funny stuff.
yeahhh for the challenge, hope it keeps me out of the candy
I love all different races too. The first year I started running, I ran a race every weekend - too much fun!
i like all races too, but i think i do best with half's so they might be my fav.
i am trying to decide if i can commit to the hbbc! i suppose it wouldn't hurt - obviously be extra motivation. hmmm.
I enjoy different distances, 10 and half seem to sit well.
Can't wait for this years HBBC...just stinks it starts right when I'm in recovery from the marathon! I'll have to walk A LOT to earn those points.
I'm pumped to do the HBBC this year.
And I think we need to find some type of scientific disorder to diagnose ourselves with. Something along the line of Too-Many-Races-Look-Way-Too-Fun-And-I-Want-To-Do-Them-All-All-The-Time-itis.
I think my favorite race distance is a half followed immediately by a full the next day :) Hehe, I kid, I kid. I agree with you that variety is the spice of life. I like to mix it up all the time to keep things interesting :)
