Intervals for Lunch

Thank you so much for your comments on my Quality VS Quantity post. I value your input and, as always, find your ideas and advice helpful. Your feedback is appreciated!

Today I headed out for a run over lunch. Tuesdays and Thursdays are workout days and, while I have a set schedule for Thursdays (with my training group), Tuesdays are up in the air based on what I feel like doing that day. I like the flexibility.

Today's lunch menu featured:

1000m warm-up @ 6:00
2000m interval @ 4:53, 4:52
1000m recovery @ 5:53
2000m interval @ 4:52, 4:45
1000m recovery @ 5:59
1000m interval @ 4:29

Total: 8K (5mi) @ 5:13/KM (8:24/mi)

I exceeded my expectations by far and felt great doing it.

What did you have for lunch today?

Bondi Band was kind enough to send me some products which I received yesterday (awesome goodies!) so watch for a review and another giveaway coming up soon.

Also, don't miss a great giveaway for Champion gear over at Shut Up and Run.

Great job on the intervals! I wish I could run during my lunch hour. We are not allowed to go off the campus nor excercise :(

Nice intervals. According to the Runner's Dude, you should be burning calories ALL DAY from that workout.

Haha wow, that sure beats my lunch! (but that's not too hard, considering it was some Lipton soup... don't hate). Awesome work, as usual :)

Well intervals sound a lot better than what I had for lunch! I had pb&j then a cheese stick, goldfish, peanuts and PB cookies with reeses. Great job on the intervals!

Great job!! I've been toying with the idea of running over lunch but I dread the thought of having to shower, blow dry my hair, etc mid day.

Awesome! I sat in on a lecture on Parkinsons Disease (it was well done actually), avoided Dominos Pizza and Coke, and ate and Ezekiel bread sammy!

I found a new energy drink on my lunch today... Rockstar (yellow can) Recovery/Energy. Says it has electrolytes in it with extra caffeine and only 10 calories, but who's counting? LOL... anyways, didn't workout or need to recover, but drank it anyways. Made me all jittery for the rest of the afternoon... probably horrible for me! LOL... that was my lunch! :-)

woohoo on the intervals!! I wish I could run at lunch. I was home sick today and ate a ton of unhealthy food. Pretty impressive, huh??

Great workout! You're taking your running to a whole new level!
WTG!
My lunch was a slice of veggie pizza and a small salad....oh that was after I threw around the Kettle bell for a bit. ; )

Great work on the intervals and speedy finish under 4:30 for the last km. I have to start doing more speedwork even if I dislike it.

I like your interval workout. Might steal it.

I went to the gym and did an upper body workout at lunch.

Your lunch sounded awesome!! ;) I guess my "breakfast" was pretty productive if you count my spinning class.. lol

Great job Marlene. I think your inspiration of working out on your lunch hour is making me want to do the same. Why the heck not? :)
