2010 in Review

Ah, what a year! I don't know where to start, except to say that yesterday I ran my 2010th mile for 2010 (3235 KM). I decided to have some fun with my route:

*That wraps up December with 207.74 miles (334.33 KM) - my third highest month this year, and I'm not even officially training!

Those 2010 miles have created quite a journey. I learned and grew a great deal as a runner this year, with plenty of support and guidance from hubs, my various unofficial coaches, my training group and of course the blogging community. It just wouldn't mean the same if I couldn't share it with all of you.

I completed a total of 20 races this year (Boxing Day 10-Miler recap is finally up) including 4 marathons and 5 half marathons. In the process, I ran some pretty significant PR's:  3:58:56 marathon (2009 PR 4:26:02); 2:42:34 30K (2009 PR 3:05:03); 1:44:48 half marathon (2009 PR 1:52:29).

I also managed to run a ton of fun races just for fun, from the Goofy Challenge to the Toronto City Chase (x2) to Seattle RnR with Tall Mom.

I had a couple of "character-building" races as well, most notably the Toronto Marathon in October. After giving myself some time to grieve, I accepted it for a learning experience and adopted my new favourite running mantra (from Running Lam via Aron): 

"I am just waiting for the perfect race
 to let my secret out."
