Three Things Thursday

1. Back at the beginning of November I realized that 2010 miles for 2010 could be within reach. I didn't end up running as much as I had intended last month due to a minor issue that plagued me for a couple of weeks (fortunately it seems to have resolved itself - have not felt a thing since last Wednesday), so I am left with about 208 miles (333 KM) to run in December in order to reach that target, which would require ~50 mile weeks for the rest of the year. This is not likely to happen and I'm okay with that, especially since this isn't an official goal I had set for myself and I have long since surpassed my '09 mileage. While I do intend to ramp it up a bit this month in anticipation of training officially starting in the new year, the last thing I want is to feel like I'm forcing myself to hit certain mileage. I'd rather keep up with the cross-training and continue to enjoy the downtime (Yes, I recognize that I have an interesting concept of "downtime").

2. I seem to find myself on a bit of a running streak. Yesterday was day 16 and three of those days have been doubles, so that's 19 runs in the last 16 days. (But who's counting?) If there's one thing I've noticed, it's that if I don't "have" to run (i.e. no training plan), I want to run more. As I mentioned yesterday in November Numbers, a lot of these runs have been on the shorter side and I would actually consider a handful of them to be "active recovery." How much longer will the streak last? I'm not too sure, but probably just a few more days. All I know at this point is that I'll be running at lunch today!

3. In case you missed it over at SUAR, my toilet is famous!

Really, was there any other place for it?

Happy Thursday (almost Friday)!

LOVE the sticker on your toilet! Absolutely there is no other place to put it! Good luck with the streak! Isn't it amazing how not "having" to run is so freeing?!

Holy whoa - that's a running streak record for you, yes?? I can't believe the legs are still going strong after all that! Whew.

When I saw your sticker on the toilet I literally LOL! It's definitely the appropriate place for it! LOL!

Yup your "off-season" is def not the conventional off-season but as long as you're having fun that's all that matters! Also I'm with Aneta, are you trying to give Shelly a run for her money on the running streak?!?!? Do I see an ultra in your future?!?!?

So proud of you for your awesome running this year. I love that without a running plan you want to run more. Funny how that is. Keep up the good work and I'm excited to hear the final number at the end of the year!! :)

I haven't received my sticker yet...you had the same idea as me. :)
as usual, awesome running. I feel the same way right now..our coaches are telling us to ease back into it but less than a month post marathon, I just wanna run - lots.

I couldn't agree with you more about running being easier to do when a training plan isn't in place. Hope you have a great December for running.

You are doing great with all your cross training and running!! It really is nice to just be able to do what you want and run when you want!

2000 miles... OMG, I can only dream.

i realized yesterday that i won't hit 2000 miles this year b/c of the stupid down time in the boot. that month off killed me and then the slow return didn't help. but it's not the numbers that make us awesome runners so who the heck cares!

Stacey said...

Hahaha I love the toilet!

Great job on your mileage for the year! That is awesome!

Omg, I have the perfect place for my sticker now :).

Your 2010 ROCKED!!! Hoping nothing but an even better 2011 - I know you'll get that dang marathon money off your back!!

You've had a HUGE running year. I was thinking you'd done well until I realised that your numbers were in miles and not kilometers and now I'm just blown away!

Unknown said...

And this is why you should just count your mileage in km. Though I guess then that would be kilometerage? Anyways, you've done amazing.

Great job in NOVEMBER!
I'm with you! I wanted 2010, but I don't think I'll make it. I'm just short of 1900 right now, and I have a feeling after the marathon this weekend, running will be short and few for a while. I'm almost at the same point as last year, but that's okay, we both did great!
Have a great Friday!

1. excuses excuses... jk. definitely the smart route!
2. the last person i know who did a running streak (100 days) got pregnant... yes, i have been making a lot of prego comments lately. i am sorry.
3. i wonder what effect that sticker will have on your resale value?

A spontaneous running streak? Fun

And sticker placement? Interesting
