Once I managed to peel myself off the floor yesterday, it was time to concentrate on recovery.
• ice cold soak in the tub
• chocolate milk, gatorade and Clif bar (until I could stomach a real meal a couple hours later)
• Recovery Socks
• (before bed) hot soak in the tub with epsom salts
My legs feel really good today, so I must have done something right. It's a rest day anyway , so I should be ready for a good hill workout with a couple friends tomorrow.
Unfortunately, the humidity continues. Ugghh.

How did you manage chocolate milk after a run like that! Honestly I would have been puking if I had drank that!! Glad the legs are feeling good - enjoy the rest!

I've been wanting to try chocolate milk after a long run. Perhaps this weekend.
I can't actually get my butt in the tub for an ice bath. I just take the handheld and progressively turn the water colder, running it over my legs. I guess it is not a coincidence that the one part of me that didn't make it under the spray (glutes) were sore the next day.
A recovery plan??? Who would have known something like that existed.....
haha At my last race I saw the recovery socks table and started LOL'ing... it reminded me of you. We were in a rush so I couldn't stop for too long... maybe at the next one I'll pick some up :)
mmm choco milk after a run is soo good, especially in the hot months. glad the legs are feeling ok and hope today's run goes well!
Chocolate Milk is the best after a run! Ice cold baths..ick. :)

I really need to follow your post run recovery plans-- I don't do any of that stuff and I feel it later.
