Three Things Thursday

1. Take a look at this photo taken outside my house a couple days ago. Snow no more!

Now take a look at the view when I got home from work yesterday.

I was not in the mood for a freezing cold, windy and snowy run and I knew that trudging through the drifts would be anything but the recovery run I was looking for, so I resorted to a boredom-inducing hour on the rotating belt. Hopefully for the last time!

Not cool, Mother Nature. Not cool.

2. This Sunday is the famed Around the Bay 30K Road Race. Last year I blew away my time goals with a 2:42 and while I'm tempted to go for a major PR (especially since I ran an unofficial 30K PR during my long run last weekend!), I've decided not to race it this time around for a few reasons...

  • A lot of my long runs have been "quality" (aka fast) lately - need to slow it down sometimes (a race seems like as good a time as any to slow down, right? :P)
  • I want to rack up some time on my feet
  • I'll be running 5K before the race to make it another [almost] 22-miler
  • I'm going to have some fun running with Juliana
  • Possibly carrying a camera...
  • There's another reason, but I can't share what it is just yet. [no I am not pregnant]

3. It's your last chance to enter my Races2Remember Giveaway!

My fundraising giveaway is still going on for Nolan's Dream Chasers as well. Thank you so much to all who have donated so far: Patricia, Vladimir, Richelle, Jen, Barb, Paula and Kenny! Our team has raised $1640 so far, but we're still a long way off from last year's $12000. Thanks for your support!!!

A donation will earn you an extra entry in the Races2Remember giveaway too!

Happy Thursday (almost Friday)!

Seriously? Snow. It's almost April. I would be going insane! Have fun this weekend!

I love that you qualified that you aren't pregnant. I think we are of a similar age and I feel like I have to do that a lot when I say "hey, I have news" or something like that.

Also find it hilarious that a race is a good excuse to slow it down :)

Hope you have a great time at Around the Bay. It is a race that I'd love to do one day!

ugh, we got more snow here yesterday too! It was 70 on Friday!!

Yay for Around the Bay!! I am hoping that you are going to be an official "pacer" or something to that affect!!

Glad you're "slowing down!" Keep your eye on the prize!

It was kind of scary how much snow we got...and how AWFUL the roads were even this morning. At least it is supposed to be sunny over the next few days. Not every race can be an A one and this is a fun one to just enjoy...

Yeah we have snow here - no fun. I am not happy. Hopefully tonight's run wont be too bad and most of the snow will be cleared. Good luck this weekend at the race/run! I am intrigued now to hear what your secret reason is!

That is a crazy amount of snow, and so fast too.

You & my other Canada blogger buddies were tweeting all day about snow, while I was staring out at the sun. VERY ODD.

Love that you did the not-pregnant disclaimer. I feel like that's always a question when you get to a certain age. Sigh.

Wow, it seems a lot of people had snow again. Enjoy the 30k!

LOL at the not pregnant comment. ;o)

And I love running races "slow". It's fun to enjoy the course and all the supporters.

I woke up to a snowy wonderland too...not cool!

Have a blast this weekend...love that you had to warn us that you are not pregnant!

well about the snow, um? at least it's not grossly humid? ;)

as for enjoying the race at an easy pace and running with a friend, that's a good plan. i'm doing the same at my next half marathon. time on feet + good company = a fun race!

smart decision!! have fun and definitely carry the camera!

freaking snow.

go already!

I can't even pretend to understand snow. ;)

The snow at your place looks like the snow at my place. Just a couple of days ago, I thought that spring was here, but I guess not!

Quinton J said...

So was this post your way of backing down from teh trash talk you were dishng out me a few days ago? I'm confused? So are you racing me or taking my photo?

I have a half marathon race that I will be running in a few weeks. Coach says to only use it as a training run not a race.

Easier said than done! :)

#1 make me sad! why is there STILL snow!! ughhh isnt it supposed to be SPRING!? We may be getting some soon here in Kansas as well.. hang in there!!

I am not very happy with Mother Nature right now either. As our snow was almost entirely gone here in Fargo, ND, we got 9 inches or so dumped on us over tuesday night which left us with a snow day. now we have to make it up on Easter Monday. grrr.

I hope you have a fun time at the race and actually manage to hold yourself to the "slow" part. Sometimes it seems that is harder than going fast! :)

It's the never-ending winter!! Sheesh!

Have fun this weekend :)

And please just don't say anything instead of leaving cliffhangers there for us to WANT TO KNOW ;)

You probably don't want a picture out my window then, huh? :)

Kill me, but I would DIE for a snow run. I miss winter running :( I know this is the time of year you are all sick of it, though :)

We had snow today! Granted it didn't stick around long (thank goodness) but it was still there reminding me that winter is still fighting to hang on. uck. Let go already! heehee

I can't wait to find out what the secret reason is!! Running with a camera is the BEST way to run!

Char said...

I'd noticed the similarity in our times too. If you live closer we could run together.

Ughh so sick of the crazy weather here too. One day its beautiful, then it's raining, then snowy. I just wanna run outside with short sleeves already!! :)

See you at ATB. I don't think I am racing either, have fun and hope to see you there!

SOOO SORRY about the snow.. SAD!! Have a blast at the race. HUGS!

Richelle said...

Good luck on Sunday! I'm wondering what the "other reason" is... hope you post about it soon!

Anonymous said...

AGH, the no-snow picture looks so pleasant! What a jerk move, Mother Nature. It's springtime!

I'm a little curious what this other reason might be, but I love the "NOPE, don't even go there" preggers note, haha. I hope you're enjoying the two races today!!

I agree with you. The way Mother Nature's been acting? Not cool.
