May 2011

I'll try not to make this recap alllll about that one race but ... oh nevermind, I'm not even going to try. ;)

Total Distance: 243.7 KM/151.4 mi (by far my lowest this year, but to be expected with taper + recovery)

Highest Weekly Mileage: 81.1 KM/50.4 mi (Race Week)

# Runs: 23

# Doubles: 2

# Non-Run Workouts: 3 (2 short and leisurely bike rides, 1 strength/core)

# Rest days: 10

Races: Sporting Life 10K, Mississauga Marathon

Favourite Run: I'll give you one guess. :)

Most Hardcore Run: 18 mile run-mute to work (Week 17)

Book of the Month: fluffy girl stuff - Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffin

Song of the Month: The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars - can't get enough of it!

Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: The Bachelorette

Obsession of the Month: BQBQBQBQBQBQ

Indulgence of the Month: there have been many

Drink of the Month: how to choose? (but I'm back on the h2o now!)

Current Wish-List: a magic wand to get us into Boston when registration opens. Too much to ask??

Current Need: physio! I was spoiled going every week leading up to the race, but now I have to ration my coverage for when I really need it later in my next cycle.

Triumph of the Month: a very special achievement shared with hubs

Current Bane of my Existence: post-marathon pounds. oof.

Current Blessings: air conditioning! hello heat wave!

Current Excitement: new run clinic starting in a couple weeks, and my progression to a new pace group!

Current Goal: to continue recovering and start getting my legs back with some speed as the month goes on - 2 5Ks in the first week of July!

What was the highlight of your month?

I sooo wish there was video of you at the finish of Mississauga...it would be awesome to have seen you..the pics themselves are so inspirational.

You did so well and hopefully you get into Boston. Would love to follow your journey. I to think it's too bad there was no finish line video in Mississauga, I wonder why. They had one in 2010....yours would have been great.

The highlight of my month...also BQ in Ottawa, but more importantly breaking 4 hours.

Quite the month of here - and you're already ready to start training again?! Ha, machine woman. I need at least a month or so of a mental break - I admire the drive over here! :)

Highlight of my month: moving to a new place we love!

You owned the month of May! My life highlight was finding out my sister is preggers! My running highlight was crossing the finish line of the Madison half with a good friend.

Super month for you! We have some distance competitions in our club every year. This is all about total mileage per year and for training and racing and so on. I always hate when taper and recovery bring the totals down so much, but in the end it's all about the big picture and the long term goals. You've been running great!

It's your blog and you can talk about one race if you want to :) haha- plus we all enjoy it :) Congrats on a fantastic May!

Totally with you on the literary fluff. Reading had been feeling like a bit of a chore, but the second the semester ended I picked up something blissfully mindless, and I haven't stopped yet. Such a necessary guilty pleasure.

The highlight of my month? Probably finishing up my first year of professor-dom. And training for what will undoubtedly be June's highlight - a five-day race in Costa Rica!

This has to be just one of the best months ever for you! It makes me smile to read this recap!

Best month ever! Again, way to go!

Running-wise, I'm pleased with my two PRs in May (1 mile and 10K). I was also happy to meet two bloggers at the TC 1 Mile. Jewelry sales went well this month, and the wedding prep is coming along.

I loved Somthing Blue!! That fluffy girl novel made me cry! Which I think only maybe 4 books (of much more serious content) has ever achieved.
