The Final 10 Challenge

I've jumped on board with Prior Fat Girl and Feed Me I'm Cranky (along with dozens of other bloggers) for The Final 10 Challenge.

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that I've recently lost a substantial amount of weight. However, for months I have been stuck at about +10 lbs from a personal goal that I've had for years.

I set a personal goal for myself to reach this weight before September 27th when I run my next marathon. I know, trying to lose weight while training for a marathon = I must be crazy, but I think I can do it. This challenge runs until August 1st so my official goal is to lose 10 lbs by that time and the remaining few lbs by September 27th.

In order to sign up for the challenge (and a chance to win fun prizes), I had to establish:

• A specific goal: 10 lbs by August 1st

• An award for myself: mini shopping spree at my local running store

• The name of a charity to which I will donate $50 if I don’t meet my goal: Team in Training, the national charity partner for my goal race

The challenge kicked off on June 1st and I’ve lost 2.6 lbs in week one. (I won’t be expecting numbers like that every week!)

I'll be checking in at Challenge Headquarters every Monday and posting mini updates here too. I need all the accountability I can get!

Sounds like a great challenge - you are off to a good start! I'm looking forward to seeing what you get on your shopping spree once you meet your goal. :)

Very good idea. Good luck!

You need to pick a charity you don't like so that you're really incited to hit your goal. There's got to be an anti-running organization somewhere that you'd donate to if you don't make it! :P

That's a fun challenge, and 2.6 lbs in a week is a terrific start!

good luck! you can do it :) i like the idea of donating to a charity as the "penalty", and a non-food reward is excellent (esp running gear!)

Good luck! I'm trying to lose 10-15 lbs...and just seem to get stuck with where I am at. Guess that must be my comfortable weight. We are doing a Biggest Loser competition here at work so I'm hoping that helps...

Good luck! Before I started running I thought training would HELP me lose weight! In a sense it did, but it's HARD not to pig out after a long workout. I'll be pulling for ya!

way to go! you are so organized and i love your goal, award, and charity idea!!!!! you should consider having a mini daily goal, too!! i find that helps keep the ball rolling.

You are already 25% there, congrats!!! Just picking when you weight could help you meet your goal (you probably will loose 2-3 lbs of water during long training sessions, especially if it is hot) but that may be considered cheating by some.

Maybe you should also focus on inches lost. I remember when I was training last year, my belly and face hollowed out but my weight was going up cause my legs were getting as big as tree trunks.

Yay! Good luck!!!
I love the idea of a shopping spree at a running store. I am a total addict to buying work out clothes!

I hope you lose the 10 pounds! Those are the trickiest for some reason but I am sure you can do it! Are you going to change anything about what are you eating now? Just wondering!

It's definitely hard to lose while youre "training" - which sound backwards, but you gotta take care of those legs!! this is great motivation though - I think you'll get there :)

if you need any extra input, email me!! Nutrition is *kinda* my expertise ;) and I'd be mooore than happy to help if I can!

I always make a plan to be a healthy eater when I am in training, cause it is so easy to just run lots and eat lots... I hope to drop 5-8 pounds over the next three months

Good luck!! I'm still trying to get rid of the 5 pounds I gained while training for the marathon.
